Bekir Smolski’s Atmospheric Environments at Agora Gallery
With oil on canvas, Bekir Smolski paints conditions that obscure the line amongst dream and reality. Light falls delicately on iridescent and calm scenes. Still trees, sand, and ice solidify in time under the tight strokes of Smolski's brush. The effect of climate is evident in every scene through streaks and finished detail. Smolski's work on occasion takes a strange turn: in a few pieces, stone and wooden focuses bend unthinkably crosswise over canvases, shining at their tips. Faceted earth and vegetation incline through each canvas, working in shading palettes that make barometrical scenes. Subjects are underlined rather than the unobtrusive regular shading and iridescent shine that overwhelms each piece. In some work, considers are incorporated along with rain or fog. In others, trees stand dim and vivified against quietly emotional scenes.
Living and working in Vienna, Smolski joins his interest with the regularly changing nature of light into incredible and even sentimental scenes. Each smooth change in the paint draws the watcher advance into the experience, welcoming investigation. He has as of late taken an interest in the tenth Florence Biennale in 2015.
